It is time for me to take responsibility for something that has been eating at me for almost 25 years. When I was in kindergarten I peed my pants in school. I had to go home for peeing my pants.

There I finally admitted it. When it happened I didn’t take responsibility. I just so happened to be drinking orange juice at the time and I said I spilled the juice. I shifted the blame away from me because I was embarrassed.

Peeing your pants when you are in kindergarten is nothing to be embarrassed about. In fact, as Billy Madison taught us: “You ain’t cool unless you pee your pants.”

Is peeing your pants really cool?

I don’t know. I will leave that up to you to decide. What is cool is taking responsibility for your actions and not placing the blame on something or someone else.

In kindergarten I didn’t understand that. But I do now which is why I am finally righting this wrong.

I watched to Republican Primary Debate last night. I watch all the debates from both sides and as I have written before there is still one question I am waiting to hear be asked. Something that always strikes me about these debates though is the complete lack of personal responsibility and them blame that continually gets thrown around. This happens on both sides. And it often even happens with the moderators and members of the media covering the debates.

Last night two video clips were shown during the debate essentially to prove that Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz have said one thing in the past and now they say something else. Isn’t that just terrible of them? They changed their mind. Those flip floppers!

I am kidding of course because there is absolutely nothing wrong with changing your mind. We should always be learning and growing and that means we will change our thinking from time to time (hopefully).

But here’s what bothers me. These candidates are shown these clips (whether the clips should have been shown is another question) and then they respond by not owning up to what they said in the past. Why not just take responsibility and explain the change? “Yes I absolutely said that, but I have since changed my position and here is why.” Would that be so bad?

All of these leaders who are running to be President of The United States should stop blaming other people for the problems of the country. Who care’s who’s at fault? Why not simply discuss the solutions and share the plan for moving forward?

Sadly all of this probably wouldn’t get people elected. Blaming other people, not taking ownership or personal responsibility just isn’t that popular. But it is the right thing to do.

What do you need to finally take responsibility for? What in your past is holding you back? It is time to own up and move on.

When you pee your pants or make any mistake, understand that it is okay, maybe even cool, but only if you own up to it. Winners take personal responsibility. Losers blame something or someone else and that is way worse than peeing your pants.

It’s pretty much crap.
